First of all I think I need to explain who Dreamfinder was.
Back in 1983 a new attraction opened up at EPCOT Center in Florida, Journey into Imagination. Housed within in 2 giant glass pyramids this attraction focused upon how the brain works. Looking at things like the 5 senses, optical illusions, colours, amusement and fear!! You sat in an omnimover (similar to a doombuggie (The Phantom Manor’s choice of vehicle)) and floated through the scenarios. Your guide on this magical journey was Dreamfinder, who along with his side kick Figment collected Dreams in his giant Dream catching blimp.
In 1998 the attraction closed down for a refurbishment, only to be reopened a year later without Dreamfinder. The attraction was reworked again in 2002, still with out Dreamfinder. So what ever happened to him?

This friendly, red bearded character, who was loved by many as decided Disneyland Paris is his home. Now residing in the bowels of Phantom Manor as the Mayor in this scene, you can see him today.

While building this scene it was decided that it isn’t alwasy necessary to creat a new mask for each animatronic. So, to add that friendly, jolly face to a Mayor, the imagineers knew where they could find one.
Thanks to Ben Debnam for sending in this find and the photo of Dreamfinder as the major
And Thanks to Martin Smith for the photo of Dreamfinder used in the title photos and at the top of this post.

I never knew….
Great find!
You forgot to mention that the mayor has the voice of the original “Ghost Host” Paul Frees welcoming us foolish mortals.
