The forced perspective horizon

Forced perspective is used through out the parks. It is used to either make something look taller than it is or further away. At the Newport Bay Club, Disney have used it to extend a horizon!!

The Main entrance to Disney’s Newport Bay Club is the opposite side to the lake. It is easy to confuse which is which as most guests walk straight out to the lake side walkways to get the the park. If you were to look out of the hotel through to the lawn, you will see that it extends for miles.

True the lawn does extend for quite some distance, but not as far as you may think. The grassed area tapers to a thinner point to the furthest end. This gives the illusion of the end of it being further away, than it actually is.

Thanks to Rich Oswald for the photographs.

A entrada principal do Disney’s Newport Bay Club é do lado oposto do lago.

It would have been nice if you had included an imagine to show the effect.
