Casting Agency Door

Hidden to the side of Main Street U.S.A. is the Disneyland Park Casting Agency. As with all Windows and doors on Main Street the idea is to make you think you are in an actual living, breathing street. This is why I assumed that this was the actual Casting Agency for Disneyland Park.

The wording on the door reads

“Open Since ’92
Disneyland Park Casting Agency
“It takes people to make dreams a reality”
Walter Elias Disney
Founder & Directory Emeritus”

Now I understood what Founder and Director meant which I then realised that this is a nod to Walt Disney, but I had to look up what emeritus meant and the definition is actually quite touching.

emeritus [ɪˈmɛrɪtəs]

adj

(Business / Professions) (usually postpositive) retired or honourably discharged from full-time work, but retaining one’s title on an honorary basis a professor emeritus

[from Latin, from merēre to deserve; see merit]

I later found out that there is a version of this door on every version of Main Street U.S.A. around the world.

Thanks to Nicholas Carter for the photographs.
